Taking Gandhi To Schools: Unique programme to introduce Mahatma Gandhi to students. An abridged edition of Mahatma Gandhi's Autobiography forms the basis for the course. Examinations are conducted twice a year, and cash prizes in memory of Thiru T.D. Thirumalai, the founder, is given away to the best students. Selected students from all over Tamilnadu participated in the Prize Distribution function. That more than 15000 school students and 5000 college students participated this year indicates the popularity of the programme.

Let us know Gandhi: Correspondence course on the Life and Works of Mahatma Gandhi. This is becoming increasingly popular, attracting people from all age groups and all walks of life.

Research and Publications: Guiding students who are doing research on Gandhi and related topics, publication of books and articles on various themes on Gandhi and his philosohy. The library of the Centre is attracting scholars and students alike for consultation, and the staff/volunteers here encourage and guide the visitors. The books of the Centre have been catalogued and user-friendly rearrangement is being done. Continuing its effort on the popularization of Gandhi and his philosophy, particularly Gandhi's Tamilnadu connection, the Centre has brought out the second edition of Tamilar, Tamilnadu and Gandhi.

Screening of documentary films: In order to spread the message of Gandhi in the schools and among the public, documentaries of Gandhi are being screened in schools and in public places. Of particular interest is the screening of the rare documentary, 'Mahatma Gandhi: the 20th Century Prophet, edited by AK Chettiar.

Exhibitions: Gandhi's complete life, contribution of the Tamils in the satyagraha struggle in South Africa, Gandhi and Tamilnadu, Indian Freedom Struggle, etc are some of the themes of exhibition available with us. The exhibition will be conducted in their places on request.

Wednesday Study Circle: Regular book review meeting to cultivate reading habit. For the last seven years we have been conducting weekly meetings and now has become a platform for lively discussion on contemporary issues.

Malligai: This art and literary wing of the Centre, organises various programmes related to art, literature and our Tamil traditions. T.K.C. Vizha is one of the annual events.

Contact Class: We conduct contact classes for the students of Gandhian Thought of Madurai Kamaraj University and for our own students of the Let us know Gandhi.
